
Why Most Bathroom Heaters Die (And How We Fixed Ours)
Let’s be honest: bathrooms are a nightmare for electronics. You’ve got steam everywhere, random splashes of water, and constant humidity. It’s basically a torture chamber for heating elements. Most heaters just give up—they oxidize, short out, and stop working. We wanted to build something that actually lasts. To do that, we had to obsess over two things: keeping water out and stopping that annoying fog. The battle against the fog You know that feeling when you step out of a hot shower and the mirror is just a white blur? That happens because warm, wet air hits a cold piece of glass. We used short-wave infrared emitters to solve this. They heat the glass up almost instantly, pushing it past the “dew point” so the water can’t even land. It’s a great feeling to just… see yourself. Plus, keeping the glass dry means you don’t get those crusty mineral deposits that eventually ruin the mirror. Keeping the electricity dry Water and electricity are a terrible mix. To keep our heaters from burning out, we didn’t just “hope” they stayed dry. We sealed every connection point and the quartz tube housing with high-temp gaskets. We’re pretty strict about our IP ratings because we don’t want a stray splash of water hitting the internal wiring. One detail we spent a lot of time on was the lead-wire exits. We used reinforced quartz glass and a special sealant to stop “wicking.” If you don’t do this, moisture actually crawls along the wire and sinks right into the heater core. Without that seal, your filaments would probably snap in a few months. A few things to keep in mind Here’s the deal: these protections mean the heater isn’t completely invisible. You can’t get a perfectly flush mount if you want a seal that actually keeps water out. It takes up a tiny bit more space, but it’s a trade-off for a product that doesn’t break. And a quick heads-up on your power. Infrared heat is fast, but it pulls a lot of juice during those first few seconds of warming up. Just make sure your bathroom circuit can handle the heater and your other gear at the same time, otherwise, you might find yourself flipping the breaker back on.
