Here’s the thing: without that mirror, about half your heat would just bleed into the ceiling or the wall. That’s a waste. The reflector catches those rays and bounces them forward, focusing the heat right where you need it. It makes the heater feel way more powerful without actually needing to crank up the wattage.
A few things to keep in mind
Now, these short-wave lamps put out a lot of heat, so they get hot. Really hot. Because of that, we use heat-resistant materials for the housing so nothing warps over time. We also add tempered glass covers to keep the humidity and splashes of a busy bathroom from messing with the elements. One quick tip: keep the surfaces clean. If the reflector gets dusty, the beam loses its focus and you won’t feel as much warmth. A quick wipe-down every now and then keeps it working perfectly.
Getting it set up
We designed these to be simple. They’re basically drop-in replacements for your standard ceiling fixtures, and they use normal voltage, so the wiring is a breeze. But since the heat travels in a specific direction, placement is everything. Put the heater directly above where you stand to get dressed. That way, you’re standing right in the “sweet spot” of the warmth the moment you step out of the shower.
