Let’s be honest: putting a high-heat infrared heater in a bathroom is a bit of a gamble. You’ve got steam everywhere and the occasional stray splash of water. Here’s the problem. When a freezing cold drop of water hits a heating element that’s glowing at hundreds of degrees, the glass doesn’t just crack. It can actually shatter. That’s a nightmare scenario nobody wants during a morning shower. The secret is in the quartz. We don’t use standard glass. We use specialized explosion-proof quartz tubes. These have a reinforced wall and a protective coating that keeps them from bursting when they hit a cold droplet. Inside that tube is a tungsten filament. We push these to high temperatures on purpose. Why? Because it creates short-wave infrared heat. Instead of wasting energy trying to warm up a room full of steam, the heat cuts right through the moisture and hits you directly. It feels like stepping into a patch of sunlight. Getting the install right Since these are recessed into the ceiling, they stay out of the way. But there’s a catch. You can’t just shove them into a tight ceiling cavity and call it a day. You need proper venting. If the heat gets trapped in the plenum, you’ll either trip the thermal cutoff or, worse, start damaging your ceiling materials. We also use high-temperature leads for the wiring. Most heaters fail at the connection points because the insulation melts. We make sure the fit is tight and vibration-resistant, so you don’t get any dangerous arcing or premature burnouts. The trade-off Now, full transparency: that explosion-proof coating does change things slightly. You might notice the raw heat isn’t quite as intense as a completely naked tube. But in a wet zone? That’s a trade we’ll make every single time. Safety beats a few extra degrees of heat. And one last thing—please, make sure your grounding is spot on.
